“We congratulate the new UN Auditors from CALABARZON, I am sure they will do a great job,” says COA Region IV-A’s Regional Director, Atty. Resurreccion C. Quieta, also a UN Senior External Auditor who served in New York City, USA and Brindisi, Italy.
Likewise, Assistant Regional Director Juniel D. Sadiasa, also a UN Senior External Auditor who completed international audit engagements in Denmark, India, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe, had nothing but praises and said, “We are glad that all their efforts paid off and we, in the Region, will support them all the way.”
After a rigorous panel interview, qualifying written and hands-on IT examinations, three successful COA Region IV-A auditors became a part of the prestigious roster of United Nations (UN) auditors, namely: Atty. Patricia Maita D. Cabaña, CPA, Mr. Elmo Antonio V. Palad, CPA and Ms. Katherine G. Paceño, CPA.
They are currently undergoing Training on Audit of International Organizations from January 9 to February 6, 2023, facilitated by the International Organizations’ Audit Committee (IOAC) and Professional and Institutional Development Sector ( PIDS), in line with the appointment of the Philippine Commission on Audit as External Auditor of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and to maintain a sufficient number of competent auditors for UN entities such as United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and other UN affiliates.
Atty. Patricia Maita Dimayuga Cabaña, Attorney IV, is from Sto. Tomas, Batangas. She graduated from the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) with flying colors as she earned her degree in Bachelor of Science in Accountancy in the year 2010 as Cum Laude. She triumphed the CPA Licensure Examination in the same year, as one of the topnotchers, bagging the 9th place. She finished Bachelor of Laws in UST in 2017 and conquered the dreaded bar examinations also in the same year. She is on her 5th year with COA, currently the OIC-ATL of Team 3, LGAS-A, Province of Batangas I.
Mr. Elmo Antonio Villaruel Palad, State Auditor II, is a resident of Lucena City. He finished Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Sacred Heart College in the year 2012 and overcame the CPA Licensure Examination in the same year. For seven years and counting, he has been serving the Commission and is currently the OIC – ATL of Team 8, Water Districts and Other CGAS Stand-Alone Agencies.
Ms. Katherine Gutierrez Paceño, State Auditor II, is from Lipa City, Batangas. In 2014, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Far Eastern University and passed the CPA Board Examination in the same year as one of the top examinees where she was the top 13th placer. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Business Administration in Laguna Northwestern College in 2019. She has been serving the Commission for five years and is presently the Audit Team Member of Team 1, LGAS-A, Province of Batangas II.
With all the brilliance and dedication of our new COA UN Auditors from Region IV-A, they will surely excel in their new journey, making CALABARZON, the whole of COA, and our country proud. Congratulations!
