December is Christmas party season, and the Commission on Audit (COA) Regional Office No. IV-A (RO IV-A) held its own holiday festivities. On December 13, 2022, COA RO IV-A officials and employees, led by Regional Director (RD) Atty. Resurreccion C. Quieta and Assistant RD Juniel D. Sadiasa came together for their first Christmas party after two years of not having Christmas parties because of the pandemic. The day-long celebration took place at the Batangas City Coliseum in Batangas City.
The program started with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Thereafter, a Welcome Message was delivered by Atty. Hermilando Mandanas, the Governor of the Province of Batangas. Gov. Mandanas extended his holiday greetings to everyone and commended COA for the service it is rendering to the country in the government’s drive against graft and corruption. RD Quieta also delivered his welcome message. He thanked everyone for being very cooperative and disciplined considering that more than 700 people are gathered together in one venue for one party. He said that it was his first time to head an office as big as RO IV-A, and it was both a challenge and a joy to him. He closed his message by wishing everyone a happy and blessed Christmas.
To put everyone in a party mood, fun and exciting parlor games followed soon after. The players for the different games were divided into six teams; one team per province that comprise the CALABARZON region and one team for the Regional Office. The overall winner of the parlor games was the province of Rizal, followed by the province of Cavite, and the Regional Office/Metro Manila Auditors as third place winner.
After the games, lunch was served and was immediately followed by the main event which was the Dance Competition. The competition had two categories: one for the Audit Team Leaders (ATLs) from each province (including the Regional Office), and another one for the Audit Team Members (ATMs) from each province (also including the Regional Office). Out of the six groups in the ATLs’ category, the Cavite group was adjudged as the winner. In the ATMs’ category, the winner among the six groups was the Batangas group. The winner in each category received a cash prize of Php30,000.00. Non-winners in each category also received Php5,000.00 as consolation prize.
After everyone was pumped up because of the amazing dance performances from the various groups, another contest ensued. This time the competition was for the Stars of the Night, one Star of the Night for the male category and another for the female category. But before the contestants were introduced, ARD Sadiasa gave his opening message to officially start the last part of the Christmas party.
Soon after, dinner was served. As everyone was enjoying the sumptuous meal, all contenders from each of the provinces paraded in their best Christmas costume or Sunday’s best attire. The adjudged Stars of the Night were Ms. Fatima Ante of Batangas Province and Mr. Renato C. Ciriaco of the Department of Public Works and Highways, Laguna Province.
The last segment of the Christmas party was the moment that everyone was looking forward to- the raffle draw. A laptop, an iPad and several cellular phones were given away in the raffle draw. Cash prizes were also raffled off to the delight of those who did not win any of the coveted gadgets.
The night’s program ended with the singing of the original composition of Mr. JM Mataya entitled “One Love, One Family,” which was the theme for the Christmas party, as well as the song “Salamat, Bossing,” which was a tribute to the bosses for their generosity and great leadership.
