Commissioner Mario G. Lipana led the Christmas Lighting Ceremony at the Commission on Audit Regional Office No. IV-A (RO IV-A) in Commonwealth Ave., Quezon City on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Commissioner Lipana, RO IV-A Regional Director (RD) Atty. Resurreccion C. Quieta and Assistant Regional Director Juniel D. Sadiasa delivered Christmas messages for everyone present at the said event. RO IV-A’s Supervising Auditors, Regional Supervising Auditors, Department Heads, Audit Team Leaders along with the RO IV-A staff were all in attendance.

In line with the event theme “One Love, One Family,” the RO IV-A choir sang a heartfelt medley of Christmas songs to the delight of the crowd, including an original composition of Mr. Jessamine J. Mataya of the Office of the Regional Director entitled “It’s Christmas Time, It’s a Happy New Year”.

RD Quieta, in his message, explained the essence of lights and of the Christmas tree. He said that light reminds us that Jesus Christ is the source of light, and that we are to serve as an example to others or be a “light” to them, for them to come to Jesus Christ. He also asked if anyone ever knew why the Christmas tree is always green, and not red. He said that a tree that remains green all throughout the year, even during the worse season like deep winter, is a tree that symbolizes hope and a new life for all. To relate “hope” in the workplace, he said that leaders in the respective provinces should lead by example, and one way to do this is by motivating their people by setting goals and directions for their respective teams in the different agencies. He added that: “[I]n HOPE, we can always expect wonders for all of us, so I hope that everyone will always observe and aspire that there is hope and a new life for everyone.”

Commissioner Lipana, in turn expressed his happiness and gratitude to the leadership of Region IV-A because he can see that everyone in the Region, the family he grew with at the Commission, is prosperous, happy and living out the spirit of Christmas. He also said that he is one with everyone in living out the Christmas spirit of unity and love.

After delivering his message, Commissioner Lipana, together with RD Quieta switched on the lights of the holiday decorations such as the white Christmas trees, the different colorful “parol” and the Christmas lights spread across the RO IV-A landscaped Garden Park beside the Region IV Building.

In his closing remarks, Director Sadiasa said: “before the program began, we were surrounded by darkness.  With the lighting of our symbolic tree, we are now embraced by the light and warmth of the Christmas season.  It reminds me of the Martin Luther King famous quote that goes something like this: “[T]o overcome darkness, we just need a single light.” Tonight’s event marks the start of the month-long Christmas celebration of COA Regional Office IV-A or CALABARZON with the theme: “One Love, One Family.” My heart is filled with light and love as this year 2022 we have overcome and achieved amazing milestones. We have surpassed expectations, working through hardships, and sometimes tough adjustments with one end goal: to improve as one family, to prosper as one family and to work together as one family. These are all possible because of the unbreakable bond that is our love for our very own CALABARZON.”

“Under the leadership of our very reliable and industrious Regional Director, RD Rex Quieta, kasama ng mga mga aktibo at mga cooperative SAs, RSAs, Division Chiefs, we will continue to flourish as one Region. In fact today, we conducted the promotional examinations for six SA IV, 22 SA I, and 28 SA II, a testament of our drive to look out for the welfare and growth of our personnel. Hindi kame magsasawa na suportahan at i-encourage ang lahat for their hardwork and diligence. Let me borrow the words of the world-class global icon BTS, “[T]he best is yet to come.” And we can look forward to it,” Director Sadiasa concluded.

After the end of the program, which was hosted by Ms. Maria Luisa L. Agana, everyone was treated to a sumptuous dinner prepared by the RO IV-A family.
