“I am happy beyond words because COA Region IV-A maybe the only region in the entire Philippines to hold a Sportsfest event on the occasion of COA’s 123rd Anniversary, and this was made possible under the leadership of your hard working Regional Director (RD), Atty. Resurreccion Quieta with the support of your Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Juniel D. Sadiasa, and most of all, because of each one of you. The unity you have shown, that you are ONE FAMILY, is an Inspiration,” says the Honorable Commissioner Mario Gonzalez Lipana in his special message during the Awarding Ceremony of the COA ROIV-A’s Sportsfest 2022 held at Sta. Rosa Sports Complex.
On April 27, 2022, the three-day sportsfest came to an end with the awarding of the athletes who have won the sporting events which include basketball, volleyball, badminton, bowling, darts, and table tennis. “All of you are winners, you exhibited the spirit of sportsmanship all throughout the games and everyone took the time to bond with your co-athletes and colleagues so I commend everyone, job well done!” RD Rex Quieta said in his message. He also thanked the generosity of the City of Sta. Rosa for allowing COA ROIV-A to conduct the games in their impressive and world-class sports facility.
In response, the beautiful and ever radiant Mayor of Sta. Rosa City, Hon. Arlene B. Arcillas said that COA ROIV-A is always welcome to the Lion City and is free to make use of the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex and other facilities. She even encouraged the delegates to utilize the Olympic-sized swimming pool that sets them apart from other sports complex. She mentioned that sports development is one of the focal points of her advocacy and programs. She congratulated all the winners, participants, delegates and players, and expressed her hope to see them again soon.
The highlight of the closing ceremony was the awarding for the ball game events, particularly the volleyball and basketball for both women and men’s categories.
For volleyball women’s category, 2nd Runner Up went to Regional Office, 1st Runner Up to Cavite and Champion was Quezon Province. For volleyball men’s category, 2nd Runner Up went to Batangas, 1st Runner Up to Rizal and Champion was Regional Office.
For basketball women’s category (3×3), 2nd Runner Up went to Cavite, 1st Runner Up to Regional Office and Champion was Quezon Province. For men’s category (5×5), the 2nd Runner Up went to Batangas, 1st Runner Up to Regional Office and Champion was Quezon Province.
All provinces received corresponding points for winning in all the events with the ball games garnering the highest points. These points were then tallied to reflect the ranking of the provinces. The 2nd Runner Up went to Cavite Province, the 1st Runner Up to Batangas Province and the Over-all Champion was awarded to Regional Office and Quezon Province which both shared the spot.
ARD Juniel D. Sadiasa in his closing remarks officially declared the end of the Sportsfest 2022, “the sportsfest is a testament of athleticism, everyone was able to showcase their hidden talents, setting aside hierarchy and simply sharing the mutual love for the games and demonstrating the spirit of brotherhood. I salute all the winners, but more than that, hindi mo rin matatawaran at nakaka-touch po talaga yon nakita natin na effort ng mga rookie players na halatang nasabak po sa laro pero binigay pa rin yon very best nila, maraming salamat po doon. Talaga po tayo ay isang pamilya, ang Regional Office, nag-share po ng mga players para po ma-completo ang mga teams, pinakita din nila ang kanilang puso sa mga provinces na napuntahan nila.” he further stated.
The closing ceremony was hosted by Ms. Cruzette Dela Cruz, Ms. Maria Luisa Aganan, and Mr. Carlos Garcia.
Congratulations to everyone! Hereunder are the complete list of winners:
