Commission on Audit (COA) Chairperson Michael G. Aguinaldo officiated the oath taking ceremony of the newly appointed Commissioner of COA, Mario G. Lipana at the Commission Proper, COA Central Office on January 27, 2022.
Commissioner Lipana pledged to faithfully discharge the duties of his position to the best of his ability, to bear true faith allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines, and to obey the laws, legal orders, and decrees promulgated by the country’s duly constituted authorities.
The Commission on Appointments beforehand confirmed his nomination as Commissioner of the COA on January 26, 2022, for a term that will expire on February 2, 2027. He replaced then Commissioner Jose A. Fabia whose term ended last February 2020.
Prior to his appointment, Commissioner Lipana was Officer-in-Charge of the COA Regional Office No. IV-A from April 4, 2017 to January 26, 2022. He also held the position of Director of the Intelligence and Confidential Funds Audit Office (ICFAO) under the Office of the Chairperson in a concurrent capacity. His career at the Commission started way back in 1983 as COA Auditing Examiner III, and he rose from the ranks to become Director in the Office of the Chairperson in 2016. Commissioner Lipana is a Certified Public Accountant with extensive audit and administrative expertise gained from more than 38 years of professional work at the Commission.
